Hi blessings and hope your having a beautiful day.
For the 3M Tint Color Stable film if you have a 4 door car it’s $550
If you have a 2 door car it’s $450
But if you want the 3M Tint Crystalline film and if you have a 4 door car it’s $850
If you have a 2 door car it’s $750

A Shade Darker said they do the whole car with Llumar ATC or ATR for $275.
How does the 3M Tint compare to the Llumar tint (3M Tint Vs Llumar) in terms of solar reflection? And, would my tint job have a lifetime guarantee against defects?

Hi Ben,
I have nothing bad to say about A Shade Darker or Llumar film. I used Llumar film for the first 10 years of window tinting and have no complaints, but I wanted to offer the best of the best to my customers and 3M Tint is it.
Like anything, you get what you pay for and 3M Tint is more expensive for a reason.
I made the investment for the customers out there that want to make the investment too.
With all that said if you are asking me to sell myself over another shop, I can’t speak for other shops because they are not me.
I can only stand by my own word.
Way beyond window tinting, I first care for your wellbeing and want the best for you. Then I care about your quality 3M tint job and excellent customer service.
Not that others don’t care but I can’t speak for them.
What I can speak for is that I work with integrity in all that I do because I live with integrity in all that I do the best I can.
If you want to get a feel for what I am talking about read this blog called “To The Top 15 Percent And Growing : Thank You For Having Integrity” I wrote this for one of my other websites.
If for whatever reason you decide not to get your windows tinted at Perfect Darkness, no hard feelings, blessings and be well.
I will recommend other tint shops in the local area that “should” be of high quality, but they don’t get my personal guarantee.
A Shade Darker, Sun Tint and Tint By Day, these are the only three in Santa Rosa CA. that I would go to if I didn’t tint myself or want 3M tint, knowing what I know now about window tinting.
Perfect Darkness Tint does the 3M Tint window tinting for many other shops and dealerships in the local area such as Sonnen BMW in San Rafael CA
Perfect Darkness also does the window tinting for Dent Dynamics, Auto Sport Detailing, Integrity Auto Glass, Truck Top USA, Campway, Autobahn Detailing, and Advanced Vehicle Outfitters as well as others from time to time.
You asked if I warranted my work, and the answer is yes all my labor work is warranted and backed by a 3M Tint lifetime warranty for the film as well.
Because of the fact that I do warranty my work and I use the best film on the market in this industry and because I believe in having a good attitude and building relationships, all of these shops continue to work with me over the years and if that is not enough I have many video testimonials here on my website too.
Here is part of an email I received from my 3M Tint Rep Rocky that breaks down the technical stuff:
“Color Stable auto film uses a proprietary technology that colors polyester resins in liquid form. 3M Tint patented the technology of coloring polyester in this fashion.
This is why we call it Color Stable…
Carbon particles mesh with the polyester and are truly stable…
You can compare it with the color on a car tire, as the tire wears the rubber stays black even old tires are still black …
All other manufactures use a old technology of dying or metalizing clear polyester rolls.
Most manufactures warrant their products for life but warranties are only as stable as the companies behind them.
When you buy from 3M Tint you buy with the piece of mind that your warranty will be honored and that the products are better as long as you compare apples to apples.
Color Stable if compared with any of our competitors must be compared with similar constructed products of which don’t exist.
On top of all that Color Stable has the most true smoke or black color then any other film on the market.
You will see that most films are brown or green or even excessively blue.
Color Stable is the most unique black non metalized film on the market.
Crystalline uses more proprietary technology in the nano form.
Nano technology is a big buzz word these days as well as “Ceramic” in many industries. Again 3M Tint has patented technology in the Crystalline film…
Crystalline was the industries first nano film and is completely metal free and has over 220 layers thinner then a human hair that absorb 97% of the Inferred heat.
Which is the heat that burns your arm as you drive down the road.

I’m planning to tint all five windows with 85% tint (very light) and I want to use the film that will reflect the most solar energy.

Here is some more info from my 3M Tint Rep Rocky, hope this helps

Ben speaks about “solar reflection” which is not a industry standard spec or NFRC spec.
He might want to look at SHGC or TSER as it should be available so we can compare alike specifications.
Here is our performance specs. for CR-70.
The only Llumar film that comes close to our CR-70 is Air Blue.
If that is what Ben is looking at then we are better.
Llumar does not publish their IR reduction specifications that I can find?
IR is the heat we feel on our skin in direct sun light. This is very important in a vehicle.
As we drive we are constantly in direct sunlight with no where to go.
Crystalline is the most efficient nonmetal film on the market at reducing heat from the sun.
Lets also note that our film is tested at 90 degrees and at 60 degree angle which is more realistic to how the sun hits a car window.
Our films increase in performance quicker then any other film as the angle of the sun gets further away fro 90 degrees.

Here is the specifications for CS-50 I looked at the specs for ATC 50 and the TSER is 26%. ATR TSER is 35% and if you have some ATR put a metal detector on it I think you will find it has metal in it.
We don’t make a 85% in CS or anything but CR.
We also have the CR-90 if he wants it all to be legal.

Jeremy, thank you for that information. Sorry for my vague terminology, total solar energy rejected was the metric I was referring to.
However, it looks like I’m facing somewhat of a dilemma.
The CS line only goes as light as 50%, which for me would be too dark to pass for legal on the front windows.
The CR line obviously has the best performance and comes in the lighter shades that I’m interested in, but it’s hard for me to justify the $850 price tag.
Any suggestions?

Yes we could do the back windows in the 50% CS for $350 and the front 2 windows in CR 90% legal for $300
Bringing the price down to $650 the best of both worlds

Jeremy, after comparing the specs between the CS50, CR90, and CR70, it seems like CR70 might give me the best of both worlds.
The difference in solar heat reduction is pretty significant compared to the CS50 and CR90 even.
I’m hoping that doing 70% tint on all the windows would appear very light, similar to factory tint.
Do you have any pictures of cars tinted with the CR70 all around?
If it look subtle enough I will just save up for the full CR tint job.

If you do your whole car in CR 70% almost no one will even know it’s tinted because it is so light,
I have 70 on my two front windows, love it.

Awesome, I think I will do that then.
I’ve researched this thing to death and it looks like 3M Tint Crystalline is my best bet.
I can’t even find any other tints (carbon or ceramic) above 70% transmittance that aren’t tinted some blue/green color.
